ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office IX (DOLE9) thru its Zamboanga City Field Office (ZCFO) in partnership with the Zamboanga City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) has successfully conducted the Dia de Zamboanga Job Fair last February 27-28, 2019 at the KCC Mall de Zamboanga, Camins, this City.
Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo shared that the job fair was an opportunity for Zamboanguenos to be employed as the job fair served as a meeting place for them and employers.
There were 30 employers comprising 25 local and 5 overseas agencies who offered a total of 27,504 job vacancies, of which, 2,720 were local and 7,550 were overseas jobs.
Jobs from Key Employment Generating Sectors (KEGS) like manufacturing, food processing, construction, tourism, government service, retail and trade were available for job seekers.
Director Domingo added that the job fair was held as part of the highlights of the Dia de Zamboanga celebration where 327 jobseekers were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) out of the 2,189 registered applicants. Out of the total registered applicants, 1,347 were qualified.
Aside from the job fair, Zamboanguenos were also treated to free services cortesy of TESDA 9 such as manicure, pedicure, haircut and massage. To help applicants with their application requirements, a one-stop shop was also conducted and were participated in by the following agencies: SSS, Pag-Ibig, PhilHealth, PNP, POEA, TESDA and DOLE.

Meanwhile, job placement officers from Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) and Zamboanga City Polytechnic College conducted a Pre-Employment Seminar for Local Applicants to clients who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills prior to job hunting. END
