ZAMBOANGA CITY, December 9, 2022 – With the aim of providing streamlined error-free services to the public, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 9 successfully launched the Service Quality Improvement Program (SQIP) on November 29, 2022 at Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.

Atty. Roy L. Buenafe, DOLE 9 Regional Director, emphasized that the SQIP is a management tool for mainstreaming a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement across all levels of the agency.

He said that the program encourages innovations in the way that processes and systems are implemented and in turn delight clients with fast, efficient and quality service.

“This effort is in line with the government administration’s thrust of effective practices aimed at efficient delivery of services under the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act and ,” Buenafe shared.

In close coordination and partnership with the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) 9, the SQIP was rolled out through an orientation of the following topics: Service Quality, Process Orientation, Process Improvement and a discussion on SQIP Projects.

A total of 40 participants composed of DOLE 9 personnel and representatives from the Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC) 9 member agencies participated in the orientation.

“From this orientation, DOLE personnel across the region will be encouraged to submit their best SQIP projects every semester. Projects shall address priority service delivery-related problems, gaps and uncertainties that need intervention,” Buenafe explained.

He said that the principles of the SQIP is similar to that of the Quality Management System and so the implementation of the SQIP in the region will not be so foreign to its personnel.

The Labor Department has adopted the slogan “Sa DOLE, Serbisyong Mabilis at Kalidad, Aming Responsibilidad” to trailblaze the SQIP implementation. END/KCQG
