ZAMBOANGA CITY — Young professionals from Zamboanga del Norte who graduated recently are set to gain new experiences in the world of work through the Department of Labor and Employment’s Government Internship Program (GIP).

A total of 71 interns were deployed to various local and national government agencies to give them the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and skills in the field of public service.

This was after the interview, orientation and signing of internship agreement of interns at the Liloy Municipal Hall, Zamboanga del Norte on March 29, 2021 and April 7, 2021 facilitated by the DOLE Liloy Satellite Office personnel.

“The DOLE is responsible for screening the interns and making sure that they are the right match for the agency which they will be assigned to. This is to ensure that they get an optimum and holistic experience and training in public service with the hopes of being hired eventually if they exhibit excellent performance during their internship,: said Regional Director Atty. Roy. L. Buenafe.

During these activities, Mayor Roberto Uy of Liloy gave his inspirational message to the interns emphasizing the importance of employment especially during the time of pandemic.

Also present were Mr. Reginaldo Eroy, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager of Liloy and Senior LEO Aileen B. Mondejar of DOLE ZDN Field Office.

Labor and Employment Officer III Joni Sarina R. Mejico of DOLE Liloy discussed Administrative Order (AO) No. 260 Series of 2015 or Revised Guidelines in the Implementation of the DOLE GIP and DOLE GIP Advisory No. 5. or Implementation of GIP in areas under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) and Low Risk Qualifications Community Quarantine to provide an in-depth understanding to the interns of the program’s objectives.

The interns will be working for a period of 6 months in their assigned offices and will be monitored by DOLE thru their submission of monthly accomplishment reports.

Each intern will receive a stipend equivalent to the region’s minimum daily wage rate of 316 pesos and enrolment to group accident insurance for the duration of their work engagement.

The DOLE GIP aims to provide opportunities and engage young workers to serve the general public in government agencies/entities projects and programs at the national and local level.END
