ZAMBOANGA CITY – Zamboanga City marked its 86th charter anniversary with various activities for its constituents, one of which is the Dia de Zamboanga Job Fair that was held at KCC Mall de Zamboanga on February 26, 2023.

Atty. Roy L. Buenafe, regional director of DOLE 9, said that this year’s thrust when it comes to employment facilitation will focus more on profiling the jobless and provide them with immediate employment/livelihood assistance.

“DOLE has been working diligently to facilitate employment opportunities for jobless individuals. Their efforts include conducting job fairs, coordinating with local businesses to create job openings, and providing livelihood assistance to those in need. DOLE’s aim is to assist individuals in finding sustainable employment that will help them support themselves and their families,” said Buenafe.

The job fair recorded 80 Hired-on-the-Spot (HOTS) and 879 qualified applicants out of the 1,643 registrants. It is considered one of the highest number of HOTS recorded in the history of Dia de Zamboanga Job Fairs.

There were 45 employers from the local establishments with 2,708 vacancies and 3 overseas recruitment agencies with 1,576 job orders.

In his message, Mayor John M. Dalipe said, it is the desire of this administration that jobs and livelihood opportunities be made available for the Zamboangueños especially now that the PESO is institutionalized.

The activity was conducted in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office Zamboanga City and DOLE Zamboanga City Field Office. END/With reports from Corazon Fatima P. Fallorin, ZCFO
