ZAMBOANGA CITY — Newly elected officers of the Zamboanga del Sur Public Employment Service Office and Job Placement Officers Association took their oath of office during the 2nd Quarter Mobile Meeting on April 13, 2021 at the GPA Hall, Dumingag Organic Academy (DOA) Compound, Lower Landing, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Sur province.

Regional Director Atty. Roy L. Buenafe, who administered the oath, said that the activity was symbolic of the association’s commitment to uphold the core values of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as they are valuable partners in the prompt and efficient delivery of employment facilitation services.

“As officers of the association in Zamboanga del Sur, it is expected of them to lead their colleagues in initiatives focused on achieving important goals and milestones. I personally congratulate each of them for having been elected because it shows that they have the potential for great leadership,” Director Buenafe said.

The following officers will lead the association in the months to come: President Engr. Joseph Quipot VI, Vice President Engr. Cerilo B. Carcueva, Secretary Julieta M. Bontuyan, Treasurer Janeth S. Padayao, Auditor Jonifer M. Sanopao, PIO Merlinda B. Pilapil and Diosdado A. Lactuan, Business Manager Dennis Jay C. Colegado and Social Manager: Mary Jane B. Omandam.

Witnessing the oath taking ceremony were Mayor Joan Abejuela of Dumingag Municipality, Ms. Miraflor J. Casanes, Head of DOLE ZDSFO and the members of the said association.

The PESO, which is established in all local government units, has become DOLE’s most valuable partner in that millions of jobseekers each year are being employed through the PESO – pushing back unemployment and stirring economic activity in the locale as workers earn and spend their wages.

With this accomplishment, DOLE has continually pushed for the institutionalization of PESOs in all LGUs so that PESO managers will direct more focus to the job, be provided with needed funds, staff, and equipment and result in more efficient delivery of services in the PESO.

Through the organized PESO and JPO associations in the peninsula, PESO Managers and Job Placement Officers are able to share best practices, resolve issues and concerns, improve their services and gain technical assistance from DOLE. END
