The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 9 thru its Zamboanga City Field Office provided 42 residents of Barangay Rio Hondo in Zamboanga City with lectures on employment facilitation and livelihood programs held last July 27 at the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST).
The Lecture Forum was in partnership with the ZSCMST Graduate School which forms part of their Adopt-A-Barangay Program with the theme “Serving in Faith for Humanitarian Growth and Sustainable Development.
“The said lecture is beneficial to the participants as they will learn of the available opportunities for them whether it be on employment or livelihood. This is just one of the ways we advocate our programs and services which will ultimately bring DOLE closer to the grassroots level,” said Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo.
The participants composed of Barangay Council Members of Rio Hondo, youth leaders and students listened lectures given by Makaraya U. Adil, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer (LEO) and Sylvia C. Delos Santos, LEO III. This was followed by an open forum where clarifications to process of availment of DOLE’s programs were satisfactorily answered.
Another topic discussed during the lecture forum includes Salient Features, Prohibitions and Penalty of Republic Act 8550 facilitated by Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
DOLE 9 continues to advocate its programs and services through the conduct of seminars/orientations and similar activities across Zamboanga Peninsula Region to inform the public on available opportunities.
