ZAMBOANGA CITY — As a newly established satellite office in the 3rd District of Zamboanga del Norte, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 9 Liloy Satellite Office’s (DOLE LSO) goal is to make sure that constituents are aware of programs and services available to them.
As part of its ongoing commitment to help clients, DOLE LSO launched two (2) information caravans – one on May 14, 2021 at Barangay Timan, Liloy, ZDN and another on May 21, 2021 at the Municipal Hall of Labason, ZDN.
Under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Roy L. Buenafe, the DOLE LSO was set up to bring DOLE closer to the constituents.
“We took heed of the clamor from the citizens of Zamboanga del Norte’s 3rd district. The distance from the area to the nearest DOLE office is quite far and would incur travel expenses. That’s why it is strategic to open up a satellite office in Liloy,” Director Buenafe said.
DOLE LSO introduced the agency’s banner programs to over 29 residents of Barangay Timan and 22 residents of Labason Municipality. These programs include registration of Workers Association, DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers Program or TUPAD and programs for OFWs.
With the presence of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) personnel in the LSO, 16 beneficiaries were able to receive checks for the Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program which is a cash assistance worth Php20,000 given to displaced OFWs who choose to return to the Philippines and stay in the country for good.
Due to the imposition of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine in Zamboanga Peninsula from June 1 to 30, 2021, information caravans are out on hold but will be set to continue once community quarantine is lifted.
The DOLE Liloy Satellite Office is located at the 2nd Floor, Municipal Hall, Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte.
