ZAMBOANGA CITY, April 27, 2023 – Around 3,909 jobs are open to job seekers in the upcoming Labor Day 2023 Job Fair on May 1, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the activity center of KCC Mall de Zamboanga, Governor Camins, Zamboanga City.

This, after the Labor Office posted its list of vacancies in their official Facebook page – DOLE Region 9. A total of 34 employers, of which 2 are overseas and 32 are local, will participate in the job fair.

Albert E. Gutib, DOLE 9 regional director, said that the job fair aims to match unemployed citizens with employment opportunities that are suitable to their qualifications.

“We released the list of vacancies in advance so that applicants may now have an idea of what to apply for and prepare themselves accordingly. It is also a blended activity wherein job seekers are advised to pre-register online through the website: www.dole9.org/jfm. We are still expecting more vacancies to pour in with the week. Rest assured, these will be posted on our website and FB page,” Gutib added.

After registering and applying online, applicants must present the QR code in the Registration Area for validation on the day of the job fair. Once verified, they will be admitted to the job fair area for the interview.

“Applicants are strongly advised to bring at least three (3) sets of application letters, bio-data and 2×2 photos,” said Gutib.

The Labor Day fair will also feature a One-Stop-Shop of services to cater to clients’ inquiries and requests for assistance. This will include the following agencies: Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), City Mayor’s Office – Housing and Land Management Division, Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD), Philippine Business for Education (PBED), Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig Fund, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Postal Corporation, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB).

TESDA will offer free services for workers and skills demonstration on cake and pizza making and abstract decorating techniques for those who are interested to learn.

City Health Office (CHO) will offer HIV counseling and screening services, immunization for children 0-59 months for measles and oral polio and COVID-19 vaccine administration. The Philippine College of Occupational Medicine (PCOM) and Zamboanga City Medical Center committed the services of their doctors and nurses to provide free medical consultation to obreros.

Aside from this, DOLE also partnered with DTI and the Department of Agriculture (DA) to spearhead the Simultaneously, DOLE 9 partnered with DTI and DA to lead the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa to help workers access commodities at lower prices. A total of 25 beneficiaries will showcase their farm produce in Kadiwa ng Pangulo para sa Mangagawa at Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU).
The Kadiwa center is a program of the DA which aims to provide the public with affordable goods by enabling the farming community to sell goods directly to consumers without the trader-intermediaries.
DOLE will likewise distribute government assistance such as release of GIP stipend, malawakang TUPAD payout and turnover of kabuhayan starter kits.

Meanwhile, talented workers from the private sector will get the chance to showcase their performance in the Talentadong Obrero Year V Talent Competition and win cash prizes.

This year’s Labor Day is anchored on the theme “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho para sa Mangagawang Pilipino.” END
