ZAMBOANGA CITY — Fresh college graduates from Isabela City, Basilan embark on a new journey as interns in various government agencies. 

 

The Department of Labor and Employment 9 – Isabela City Field Office (DOLE-ICFO) and LGU-Isabela City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) gathered 22 interns for an orientation about DOLE’s Government Internship Program (GIP). 

 

Regional Director Atty. Roy L. Buenafe said that the program aims to provide young workers, specifically the poor/indigent and young workers, opportunity to demonstrate their talents and skills in the field of public service with the ultimate objective of attracting the best and the brightest who want to pursue a career in government service, particularly in the fields and disciplines related to labor and employment.

 

Under the program, interns are employed for a minimum period of 3 months and maximum of 6 months with a daily wage of Php 316.00 which is the minimum wage rate for Region 9. 

 

DOLE ICFO Head Ma. Elena T. Alabata and Senior LEO Marlyn J. Anoos facilitated the orientation focusing on the salient points of the program, reportorial requirements, duties and functions of interns. 

The successful applicants shall also be entitled to insurance coverage, which shall not be deducted from the beneficiary’s allowance, based on the premium agreed by DOLE and the Government Service Insurance System.

Beneficiaries may be readmitted for another period of six (6) months upon recommendation of partner institution. END
