The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office IX (DOLE 9) in partnership with the Area Vocational rehabilitation Center (AVRC) III joined in celebration of the International day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with the theme “Ensuring Inclusivity and Equality” on December 3, 2018 at AVRC III, Logoy Diutay, Talon Talon, Zamboanga City.

Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said that DOLE actively participates in this endeavor as it aims at promoting rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all spheres of the society and development and to raise awareness about the situation disabled people face in every aspect of their lives – political, social, economic, cultural.

DOLE thru its Zamboanga City Field Office personnel oriented 88 PWD-participants on the salient features of DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) as well as other services which may PWDs may avail of. The program is the Department’s contribution to the achievement of the government’s agenda of inclusive growth through massive job generation and poverty reduction.

Right after the lecture, participants were allowed to raise issues and concerns relative to availment of livelihood assistance and types of projects they may undertake thru an open forum.
