It was six o’clock in the morning of August 31, 2017 when Private 1st Class Richard Aninion, 51 IB PA sent his usual good morning text message to his wife, Glenda Obdamen Aninion.

Glenda lives in Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay while Richard joined the defense for Marawi City against the Maute terrorists.

At two o’clock, just five months after they got married, Glenda received a phone call from her in-laws that Richard was killed in action.

Glenda lost Richard, her husband and a hero.

To assist Glenda and the families who are left behind by our fallen soldiers, the Department of Labor and Employment provides a Livelihood Assistance to Armed Forces of Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) Killed-in-Action and Wounded-in-Action (KIA/WIA) Casualties and their Beneficiaries under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program.

DOLE Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office provided Kabuhayan Starter Kits to 20 KIA/WIA beneficiaries on October 10, 2017 at DOLE ZSFO Conference Room, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

“Nagpasalamat ko sa DOLE ug sa ubang government agencies nga ilaha ming gitabangan ug gipriority sa ilang programa,” Glenda said. She expressed that she appreciates the P10, 000.00 worth Commercial Cooking Starter Kit which can aid her income for a longer time compared to a cash incentive.

Glenda, a passer of the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Financial Management and Professional Education Course, was also endorsed by ZSFO Head Imelda F. Gatinao to the Department of Education Division Office of Zamboanga Sibugay for possible employment.
