ZAMBOANGA CITY – Convenient and fast were words clients used to describe the services offered by various government agencies and private establishments in the One-Stop-Shop of Services put up during the Labor Day Celebration for Workers in the Informal Sector (WIS) on May 21, 2023 at KCC Mall de Zamboanga, Zamboanga City.
Albert E. Gutib, Regional Director, said that the DOLE has partnered with government agencies for the ease and comfort of clients.
“The OSSS has always been a main-stay in job fairs and big events of DOLE as it has proven to be effective in catering to concerns and requests for assistance of our kababayans,” Gutib said.
He further said that through this convergence activity, cooperation and coordination among government agencies in the Region has strengthened and response to inter-agency concerns have become immediate.
“For this particular OSSS, we have catered to 76 informal sector workers and made it easier for them to access these services,” Gutib added.
Among the services offered in the OSSS were free SIM registration, registration to affordable housing plans, scholarships for technical-vocational courses.
Pag-Ibig HDMF services include membership registration, MDF issuance, applications for loans, general inquiries for provident and housing loans.
The Social Security System offered the following services: receiving of membership forms, member data and change request firms and inquiry on member records.
Other partner agencies and establishments are as follows: Globe Telecommunications, Smart Telecommunications and the Housing and Land Management Division (HLMD) of the City Mayor’s Office.
The Labor Day for WIS is pursuant to Proclamation No. 1215 series of 1998, giving recognition to our labor force particularly in the informal sector for their exemplary contribution to the country’s growth and development. END
