ZAMBOANGA CITY- In celebrating the 117th Labor Day, the Department of Labor & Employment RO9 – Regional Coordinating Committee (DOLE9-RCC), in partnership with the Department of Trade & Industry RO9 (DTI-9), put up a Livelihood & Diskwento Fairs on May 1, 2019 at Zamboanga Economic Zone & Freeport Authority, San Ramon, this City.

The Livelihood Fair generated P90,166.00 gross sales while the Diskwento Fair earned P274,140.00 totaling P364,306.00, a record-setting figure not yet achieved in previous Labor Day celebrations in the Region. In comparison, this figure was up by 83% from the gross sales generated last 2017 of P199,294.75.

The Livelihood Fair has also seen a significant increase in number of participating associations from 7 in 2018 to also a record-setting 23 this year, including DOLE’s very own baby project, the PROJECT HOPE.

The fair showcased the best products that each association has to offer such as native delicacies, herbal medicines, yakan products and abaca handicrafts.

The sales from this one-day fair proved the marketability of the products of the different livelihood interventions of the Department. END/With reports from PJ Dela Cruz, ZSFO
