The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office IX thru its Zamboanga City Field Office (DOLE ZCFO) DOLE Clinic with the Labor Services Unit of Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone (ZAMBOECOZONE) conducted a Labor Relations, Human Relations and Productivity (LHP) Seminar on January 23, 2019 held at ZAMBOECOZONE Conference Room.

Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said that the seminar is DOLE’s contribution in the labor education and advocacy aspect to address the challenge of business competitiveness in the workplace. It is a one-day course for employees, supervisors/employers or mixed employees and employers/supervisors.

26 employers and workers from 13 locators attended the activity which forms part of the 2018 Assessment and Evaluation of ZAMBOECOZONE Locators.

Makaraya Adil, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer of DOLE ZCFO, served as the resource speaker of the activity where he highlighted that LHP is a workers’ right to Labor Education.

He also discussed the salient features of Department Order (DO) No. 198 Series of 2018 known as the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 11058 entitled “An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof”.

To strengthen OSH within the locators, Supervising LEO Adil encouraged management to send representatives to the 40-hour Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training to capacitate potential Safety Officers. In addition, he also proposed a one-day OSH training in their respective establishments in cooperation with the Labor Services Unit of ZAMBOECOZONE.

“The seminar is helpful to the employers and employees. DOLE should continue this kind of information program,” according to Sarah Jean Dolino, Admin Head of CTK Asia Rubber Corporation.
