ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Department of Labor and Employment Region (DOLE) 9 through its training team continues the best practice of providing capacity building training for companies to help them cope in this pandemic.

DOLE 9, in partnership with the Regional Coordinating Committee, launched the webinar entitled “STEP IT UP!: Strengthening Workplace COVID19 Prevention and Control” on June 8, 2021 via Zoom teleconference.

The webinar is intended for Safety Officer Designates and their HRMO/Management Representative to support their technical requirements in implementing the DTI-DOLE Interim & Supplemental Guidelines and intensify Vaccination Campaign for continued COVID-19 Prevention & Control in the workplace as well as to capacitate them with the skills needed in promoting productivity, safety and health in the workplace.

Some 62 virtual attendees representing 57 companies coming from various industries (majority from Retail, Academe & Services Industries) made up the pioneer batch.

Topics covered include Employee Engagement amidst COVID-19, latest DOLE COVID-19 related issuances, Department Order 224-21 or Guidelines on the Ventilation for Workplaces and Public Transport to prevent and control the spread of the virus, 7S of good Housekeeping: Setting a Pathway to a Safe Workplace in the better normal and the Employees Compensation Program.

Resource speakers also touch on subjects related to vaccination effects, COVID-19 testing and contact tracing, compliance to Workplace Accident/Illness Reporting and the Safety Seal Certification Program.
