ZAMBOANGA CITY, May 11, 2022 – Clients in Zamboanga del Norte may now expect improved access to job vacancies and jobs matching as DOLE Zamboanga del Norte Field Office conducted a series of orientations to job placement officers and Public Employment Service officers.

A total of 50 PESO Managers, JPOs and staff attended the learning sessions held on April 25, 27 and 28, 2022 in Dipolog City, Sindangan and Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte respectively.

Atty. Roy L. Buenafe, DOLE 9 Regional Director, said that the goal is to intensify the utilization of PESO Information System (PEIS) and discuss the new features of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) Online System.

“DOLE 9 is always ready to bring the programs of the government closer to the people, especially those less fortunate ones. Ensuring that our partners are capacitated also means that they will be able to deliver better service.

Since the pandemic, we fully embraced technology and developed online systems to ensure not only faster processing but also for health and safety reasons,” Atty. Buenafe further said.

During the training, participants were trained on properly reporting their accomplishments in the systems. Data encoded into the systems are used for analysis and improvement actions as well as informs policy-makers, planners, and decision-makers with accurate, timely, and reliable labor market information

The PEIS is a database of active manpower supply containing the profiles of all persons and employers. It shows information on the qualifications and skills of the applicants as well as the job vacancies posted by the employers.

“When this database is properly maintained, we can also maximize employment facilitation by matching skilled job seekers to suitable job vacancies.

We will continue to capacitate PESO managers and JPOs as new updates to the systems are made. Series of training sessions will be held in other provinces in the coming months,” Atty. Buenafe said.
