ZAMBOANGA CITY, May 30 – On Friday (May 27), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 9 won 2 major awards at the Y2022 Awarding of Best DOLE-Assisted Livelihood Projects also known as the Kabuhayan Awards held at the New Coast Hotel, Malate, Manila.
This year, the in-person Kabuhayan Awards celebrated a remarkable year of a vigorous livelihood program implementation in the midst of a global pandemic.
Juancho Mirasol’s Glass and Aluminum Project in Isabela City, Basilan bagged 1st Place – Best DOLE-Assisted Livelihood Project (Individual Category) for demonstrating potential for significant growth and sustainability and for augmenting individual income as entrepreneur. PESO Manager of Isabela City, Basilan, Ms. Aradelria T. Belleng, was awarded with a Plaque of Recognition for her support and contribution in the implementation of DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
DOLE 9 was hailed as Top Performing Region in implementing TUPAD or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers Program, nationwide.
The Region’s Documentation Team received back to back awards for video documentations of both livelihood projects – 2nd Place for “Pan sa Panginabuhi” (Group) and 3rd Place for “Espejo del Vida” (Individual).
Pinan Women’s Livelihood Association’s Bread and Pastries Project in Pinan, Zamboanga del Norte made it to the Top 5 in the group category for their significant contribution to employment generation and demonstrating potential for significant growth and sustainability.
Meanwhile, the following Regional Awardees were recognized for their relentless efforts in implementing DILP and TUPAD in Region 9:
- Best Performing Provincial Field Office Livelihood Focal Person: Michael Vincent M. Macrohon, LEO-III, ZDSFO
- Best Performing Provincial Field Office TUPAD Focal Person: Eddyll Grace P. Poligrates, Senior LEO, ZSFO
- Best Performing Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) Implementing DILP: Ipil Market Vendors Multi-Purpose Cooperative (IMAVEMCO) of Ipil Municipality, Zamboanga Sibugay
- Best Performing Local Government Unit (LGU) Implementing DILP: Pinan Municipality Zamboanga del Norte

The DOLE Kabuhayan Awards is an annual event which aims to recognize and reward outstanding DOLE-assisted livelihood projects and showcase their best practices to serve as an inspiration to other beneficiaries. It also recognizes partners as well as DOLE regional offices and their livelihood focal persons for their contributions in implementing the DILP or Kabuhayan Program.
