The Department of Labor and Employment RO IX (DOLE 9) thru its Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office conducted the Year End Program Assessment of the 2019 Child Labor Profiling on December 16-17, 2019 at Sibugay Grand Plaza Hotel.
The activity was attended by various individuals comprised of stakeholders from the different Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (MSWDO), Public Employment Service Office(PESO), and Department of Social Welfare and Development-Pantawid Provinicial Office, child labor enumerators and community facilitators among others.
“This activity is a great avenue for us to converge and thoroughly evaluate our efforts in eliminating the child labor incidence in Zamboanga Sibugay with the goal of freeing 1 million child laborers by 2022.” said Engr. Tugahan, Senior LEO in his opening message.
Airon Paul Canizares, Community Facilitator, presented the data on the profiled child laborers in the province. From the advent of the child labor profiling on July 1, 2019, a total of 1, 840 child laborers were profiled and referred to the protective services and programs (i.e. psychosocial and family counseling, medical and educational assistance, etc.) of the MSWDOs.
An action planning workshop was facilitated by Edyll Grace Poligrates, Child Labor Focal to the participants to further the implementation of the referrals of these profiled child laborers.
A closing ceremony was also done to formally recognize the efforts of stakeholders for the help they extended throughout the duration of the child labor profiling. END/With reports from Airon Paul Canizares, CF-ZSFO
