ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment IX (DOLE 9) gathered 31 human resource practitioners from private establishments for another round of Employers Forum, a one-stop-shop for HR, last February 21, 2020 at the DOLE 9 WODP Center, Sta. Catalina, this City.

Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo shared that the forum aims to educate the HR practitioners on the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers, work ethics, values, skills and other relevant information on DOLE issuances, programs and services.

The participants were mostly from the wholesale and retail industry.

The Forum consists of learning sessions led by DOLE’s Training Management Team on topics such as occupational health and safety standards, contracting & subcontracting, administration and enforcement of labor laws, penalties for non-payment of minimum wage and salient features of the Employees Compensation Program for workers who suffered work-related contingencies.

Partner agencies such as Pag-Ibig fund and PhilHealth were also present to give updates on their programs and services and to answer queries from participants.

An open forum was also in place to cater to questions from the participants and to provide an interactive environment for parties involved.

Ms. Jocelyn Palpallatoc, one of the participants, commended DOLE 9 for having such an initiative for HR practitioners. “I am very thankful to DOLE for the invite to this forum as it has helps us, HR practitioners, to relate more effectively to our employees. Hopefully, DOLE will have more trainings for HRs,” she said,

The next leg of the Employer’s Forum will be conducted on March 20, 2020 (Friday) at the DOLE 9 WODP Center, Sta. Catalina, this City.
