ZAMBOANGA CITY – A total of Php 2.4 million pesos worth of checks were released yesterday, October 5, to the Zamboanga Women’s Federation Incorporated at the DOLE 9 Operations Center in Zamboanga City.
regional director Atty. Roy L. Buenafe said that the amount will cover the cost of projects under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program where 345 individuals are expected to benefit from.
Of the total grant, he said, Php 390,704.00 will be allotted for the motorized banca and fishing paraphernalia project of 156 beneficiaries from Brgy. Limpapa, Zamboanga City.
Meanwhile, Php 1,203,000.00 will be used for negosyo kariton and motorized fiberglass boats for 40 beneficiaries from various barangays.
Buenafe added that the remaining Php 836,635.00 will cover the wages of 149 displaced workers in Vitali, Bunguiao, Curuan and Manicahan under TUPAD.
DOLE 9 Assistant Regional Director Imelda F. Gatinao handed the checks to Association President Violeta Alejandro.
The DILP is one of the DOLE’s flagship programs that opens economic opportunities to the vulnerable and marginalized workers by providing them access to grant assistance for capacity building on entrepreneurial ventures, for either individual or group undertaking.
Meanwhile, the TUPAD program is a community-based (municipality/barangay) package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, the underemployed and the unemployed poor for a minimum of 10 days but not to exceed 90 days, depending on the nature of work.
